Step-by-step instructions

Steps

  1. Work in trios. Each round, one member is the “client” with a real question.
  2. Question: the client briefly explains their question or situation.
  3. Clarify: the two advisers ask clarifying questions.
  4. Advice: the advisers give advice while the client listens and takes notes.
  5. Harvest: the client shares what they'll take away. Swap roles for the next round.

Settings

  • Number of cases — optional, 1–5 (default 3): how many questions are covered.
  • Time per phase — optional, default 2 / 2 / 4 / 2 minutes.
  • Preparation: each client brings a real question or situation.

Tip: a practice question with AI

No question of your own at hand? Ask Microsoft Copilot: “Give me 3 relatable issues about [topic/context] that students can bring as a 'client' to ask for advice.” Use one as a practice question.
