Step-by-step instructions

Steps

  1. Split the class into small groups; each member gets a number.
  2. Show a question. Phase 1: everyone first thinks/writes individually (timer).
  3. Phase 2: the group discusses and builds on each other (timer).
  4. Sharing: a number is drawn β€” that member tells the group's answer.
  5. Move on to the next question and repeat.

Settings

  • Questions β€” required. One per line. You can't start without at least one.
  • Group size β€” optional, 2–6 (default 4).
  • Phase 1 (individual) / phase 2 (group) time β€” optional, default 60 / 90 s.
  • Grouping β€” optional: how groups are formed.

Tip: generate questions with AI

Out of ideas? Ask Microsoft Copilot: “Give me 6 open questions about [topic] for students aged [age], one per line.” Paste the lines into the Questions field.

Tips for the facilitator

  • Individual thinking plus group comparison

  • Write alone first, then combine the lists

  • One participant shares the joint result

  • Activating prior knowledge or brainstorming

  • Thinking independently before the group discussion
