- Form pairs
Find a partner and sit next to each other. A is whichever of you comes first alphabetically. - Think up the questions
Students write the question on the front of a card and the answer on the back. - A asks, B answers
A reads the question on the top card out loud. B answers. - Right answer: the card is won
B gets the card, and A gives a compliment. - Wrong answer: the card goes back
The card goes to the bottom of the pile — it will come round again. - Swap roles
After every card the two swap roles, until the pile is gone.

Or blank cards from the basic kit, if the students think up the questions themselves
- Language lesson: review words, translations or word meanings

- Content lesson: practise key concepts, dates or cause-and-effect relationships
